In today’s Sun newspaper Chris Evans has called for the iconic Abbey Road studios – made famous by The Beatles – to be saved from property developers. The recording venue in London is being sold by its owners EMI. Chris argues that, "The Beatles are to contemporary music what Shakespeare is to the written word. Someone has to buy it and save it. It’s too important.’ Beatles fans have also been camping out to save the historic site.
What do you think?
Sparkles,
this site must be saved and the analogy to Shakespear and written plays is perfect for the comparison to The Beatles and their music.
Just my opinion on the matter.
Gerry
Must be saved for prosperity.
The Globe burned down. We still have Shakespeare’s plays being performed.
nostalgia means nothing to so called progress. The beatles have enough nostalgia for it not to be missed that much. the world is being flattened by a huge £100 pound note. Im leaving for the jungle and maybe i will get a few years peace before the loggers come a calling. Cant buy me love but it can buy you land
How far do we go though…….I can’t really see the Beatles being revered in 400 years time such as Shakespeare.
It is, after all, just a building that some people recorded in, its not the music its self which is the thing which they love.
Why don’t all these multi-millionaires who made their fortunes recording at the Studio club together and buy it….Otherwise….ask the 1600 workers at Chorus on Tyneside who are about to loose their jobs what do they think about saving an outdated, old fashioned studio…or ask the other 2 million that already have lost jobs in this recession…who gave a toss about saving their jobs ??? nobody… maybe Barclays Bank should buy it….they appear to be the only people making any money at the mooooo……
if chris wants to save it
he should buy it , after all he’s got the loot and plenty of it
